How did you get started at Dfly?
I moved to Madison about four years ago and was adopted into a badass “mom squad”, many of whom were Dfly members. I also had the joy of working with my girl, Tiffany Geier, in 2021-22 and she brought me in for her YogaUp. That class sealed my fate as a Dflyer.
What was your yoga, barre experience before Dfly?
Consistent exercise, or really any exercise, was not a part of my life until my 40’s. I dabbled with a couple yoga classes for a brief period years ago and always left feeling inept and out of place. And no experience with HOT yoga…never thought exercising in a 90+ degree room was my cup-o-tea.
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
All of it. I love the inclusivity and acceptance the space upholds. I love the ease of joining and attending classes. I love that the instructors can simultaneously push you past your comfort zone while encouraging you to do what’s right for your body. It’s really about the camaraderie and community and the way I feel after being immersed in it. I feel hot, strong, and like part of a team. It’s magical!
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
I feel better now about myself than in the last 20 years. I’m centering ME for the first time in forever and attending Dfly classes is a top priority. I am a mom of three and a high school teacher, so it’s not always easy, but my body and mind feel so much better when I can squeeze in a couple classes a week. This is my mid-life crisis, y’all, but Dfly is keeping me sane!
How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
My Monday Yoga Ups with my girl Tiffany are a must-do with my mom squad. I love any class Carrie M. teaches. Aroma Yin is an absolute pleasure to take and is perfect for finding space for your mind and body to just be peaceful. Better than any gummy I’ve taken.
I plan to be a Dflyer into my 90’s. Hopefully my mom squad feels similarly. We will change our name to Grandma Squad when the time is right.
Instructor Carrie Miller: “Erin brightens the room just by being there. Her smile and attitude add so much to class. I always feel so lucky to have her in class or be in class together. Thank you for being the person you are and being a part of the Dfly community, Erin!”
