Last year, a friend of mine took me to my first class at Dragonfly Middleton, where I fell in love immediately. Everyone was so nice and supportive of how little flexibility I had at the time. I love when the instructors say “respect and listen to your body, if something doesn’t feel right, don’t do it.”
My only experience with yoga was a dvd set called Namaste Yoga. I learned a lot of the terminology associated with yoga but it was not challenging enough. It did however; build my confidence up to not look silly in classes.
I enjoy the challenge of trying to get into a certain pose or have better form. I feel yoga is a holistic workout strengthening mind, body, and soul.
Since going to Dragonfly over the course of the year, I have definitely toned up and have become stronger and more flexible. Other than becoming stronger and more flexible, I noticed decreased pain in my shoulder caused by an old injury.
I try to attend at least 3 times a week but honestly, I would come every day if my scheduled allowed it. It’s hard to say which class is my favorite because it truly depends on what I am looking for. For example, I love coming to the 5:30am flow classes before I work a 12 hour shift. Those classes help get me in the right mindset to take care of patients. If I want more challenging work outs, I love going to core flow or yoga up. For more relaxing and to increase flexibility, yin or chakra flow classes are my favorites.
