How did you get started at Dfly?
Once upon a time, before the pandemic, I was a daily rider at Dragonfly’s sister fitness studio, Flyght Cycle. Several of Flyght’s pilots were also yoga instructors and they encouraged me to try a Dragonfly class back in August of 2018.
What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
Prior to trying a class at Dragonfly, I knew nothing about yoga and thought it was just for women. Wow, was I wrong!
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I really enjoy the cleanliness of all the studios, the 95 degree heat, the friendly front desk staff, the incredibly talented instructors, and all of yogis attending class with me who roll out their mats to improve their physical and mental fitness.
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
Definitely! During my athletic career, I incurred two severe sports-related injuries that greatly affect my balance and flexibility. Yoga has really helped improve my physical balance and flexibility and fight against the effects of those injuries. In addition, I have always believed in turning your thoughts inward and using self-reflection to improve your mental well-being and every yoga class helps me do that.
How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
My goal is to attend a minimum of five classes a week. Dragonfly’s classes have been so beneficial for me. It’s a pleasure to reach and exceed that goal and a terrible disappointment when I can’t. If there’s a sun salutation in a class, then it’s a favorite!
Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
I’m extremely grateful for Meg operating such a fantastic fitness business and for all of the great instructors who have shared their yoga knowledge and experience to help me in so many ways. Merci beaucoup.
Instructor Suki Warda: “Darryl brings a strong sense of kindness and connection to our Dragonfly community. When Darryl shows up for class, an air of appreciation and gratitude flows effortlessly through the space. Having Darryl in class is like having a good friend who listens, cares, and is always open to learning.”
