How did you get started at Dfly?
I was in the process of building a house and staying in an apartment near the studio during the time of construction. Also during this time, my mom was going through cancer treatment, so needless to say it was a very stressful time in my life. I was going to Prairie Athletic Club, but was looking for something additional to try and help alleviate the stress. Given DFly was so close, I gave it a try and became hooked.
What is/was your yoga/BarreAmped experience before Dfly?
I grew up a dancer, so I have always been passionate about health and fitness, however, I was more focused on the cardio and strength side of things. I tried a few different yoga studios, but never really got excited about it. It wasn’t until my experience at DFly that I became passionate about yoga.
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
The energy from both the community and instructors.
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
I am a firm believer that hot yoga helps detoxify your body. Flushing my body of toxins leaves me feeling refreshed and reenergized. I have also been able to maintain flexibility as I age, I have increased my cardio vascular fitness and reduced stress. Because of all these benefits, I also noticed I rarely get sick anymore.
How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to attend as much as possible, but on average 4 days a week with double classes every Saturday. Honestly, I love all the classes DFly has to offer. They each have their own unique benefit. A few of my top favorites include Meghan’s 75 minute flow on Sundays-she is always offering a challenge or a new arm balance to try and I love that! But the energy and overall workout you get from Erica’s Power Up is tough to beat.
Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
A Madison native, I started dancing when I was 4 years old. As part of the Wisconsin Dance Ensemble I performed at the Civic Center (totally dating myself here) in The Nutcracker from the time I was six all the way to 18 – performing everything from Bon Bon to Waltz of the Flower. I continued dance as I attended UW Madison. A current resident of Sun Prairie, I am a very busy working mom of two (12 and 14 years old). My kids are involved in basketball, baseball, softball and football and they all seem to overlap. With such a busy life I am so very thankful for DFly. It is a place I can go and take time for me. Spending that 45-75 minutes on my mat helps keep me grounded and gives me the energy and positivity to tackle the challenges life brings, while proving an amazing total body workout.
