How did you get started at Dfly?
A friend of mine I met shortly after moving to Madison encouraged me to start going to hot yoga classes at Dragonfly. It was during the middle of winter with a foot of snow on the ground as Wisconsin winters have and therefore was not a very hard sell. It felt AMAZING to walk into the warmth! *thought to self* oh my God I have toes again!
What was your yoga/BarreAmped experience before Dfly?
When I was in school I did home workouts to p90x and p90x2. One day, not wanting to go to the gym or do a tough workout, another friend and I decided we would do the p90x yoga DVD. We were looking for something easy and relaxing. *Facepalm* Anyone familiar with Tony Horton knows that is not an easy workout. Especially being an hour and a half long and the first ever yoga class for either of us!
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
Do I have to pick one? I enjoy the feeling after class when the muscles still burn and I know I had a great workout.
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
Absolutely. Dfly has helped me in several aspects of my life. It has given me a schedule to get me motivated to get up when I am feeling tired due to my erratic work schedule. The yoga based classes that end with relaxing on the mat help manage the stress that comes with work specifically and life in general. But mostly work…
How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
That depends! For a time I was trying to make it to at least 5 classes a week due to the benefits of working out in heat. It can help combat elevation sickness and I was planning a trip to play around in mountain tops. I don’t know if it worked because I still felt like I had been repeatedly pummeled by several horse drawn carriages by the time I was done but! It was beautiful and I am really glad I got the chance to go! Actually, COVID almost trapped me there which would have been a lot of fun as well. My favorite class would have to be Core Flow with Nichole. I could almost swear she loves watching the people in her class die a little on the inside by the time it gets to the end of class and your core is completely spent and she pushes for just a few more moves but you really have nothing left in the tank! lol Thank you Nichole! I can’t give you too much grief for that because I obviously keep coming back to die. I have to ask though, what is with the 3-legged dolphin pose? I really never want to see a 3-legged dolphin. Or a dolphin with any number of legs for that matter.
Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
I am so grateful that Dfly made it through COVID! It has been awesome to come back to the heat and the supportive staff.
