I moved back to Madison and happened to be living a block away from the new downtown Dragonfly. Looking for a fun, relaxing, yet tough workout to get in shape for my upcoming wedding was at the top of my priority list. With a leap of faith and some encouragement from my fiancé, I decided to give it a try and have been hooked ever since! I like to say I was in the right place at the right time!
I had honestly never done yoga, let alone hot yoga before starting at Dragonfly! I was a true beginner, which was the reason I was a little hesitant about it. Not only had I never done yoga before but I have always been anxious about group exercise. Dragonfly eased that anxiety and I felt I fit right in despite my lack of yoga experience.
I love the variety of classes Dragonfly has to offer. The staff and instructors are one in a million. Their yoga/fitness knowledge and expertise, welcoming and friendly attitudes, and ability to push you further than you thought you could go are second to none.
With a stressful nursing job, wedding planning, and a cross country move in my near future I am thankful for Dragonfly for giving me some time to focus on me, time to relax and focus on my body and what it needs. As a nurse, I am constantly taking care of others, but what I’ve found is most important is taking care of myself and Dragonfly has allowed me to do just that. Overall, I have gained a ton of strength! I have been a member of Dragonfly since August of 2015. It is so fun to see yourself progress, watching and feeling your body do things that at one point felt nearly impossible to do!
I attend class at least 4 times a week, sometimes a couple times a day! I absolutely love Shawn’s Yoga Up, Erica’s Power Up, Emily’s Power Flow, and Friday afternoon BarreAmped. There are so many classes that I look forward to every week, it’s impossible to pick just one favorite!
I am moving to Maryland after our June wedding. Having already spent quite a bit of time out there, I have yet to find a yoga studio as amazing as Dragonfly. Lately I have been practicing on my own, on my back porch. While I will miss Dragonfly terribly, they have given me the foundation I need to guide and continue my own practice, something I never thought I’d be able to do! Dragonfly has instilled in me the importance of self-care, focusing on the present, stress relief, and improving & maintaining my overall health.
Studio Manager and Instructor, Natalie Koberstein, said “Kirstin comes into the studio with a smile and treats all those around her with such kindness! She has been dedicated to her practice, and each time she comes out of the studio, seems to be floating on air! We will miss her, her smile and infectious positive energy!”
